Our Current Read Aloud is “The BFG”, from Roald Dahl. The Hummingbirds have loved every Roald Dahl we’ve read so far, and this is absolutely one of the most whimsical and funny of his works.
Our current long read aloud is the Roald Dahl Book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. It was later made into two movies, one of which is great!
We read Ada’s Violin, the true story of a small town that constructed their own instruments out of collected trash.
We are officially collecting used plastic water bottles to be used in an art project for the class! If you have work events that use a lot of water bottles would you please consider collecting them for the hummingbird class!
Tomorrow we are taking the metro all the way to the Montgomery County Recycling Center. This is a huge part of our conservation unit, and allows us to see where our recycled goods end up, not to mention how many people are involved in the process of recycling!
We are headed to the Renwick this Friday at 9:45! Our tour begins at 10:30. It’s one of the oldest museums in DC, built in 1859 when it was referred to as ‘The American Louvre’.
We are collecting food donations for Martha’s Table! The Hummingbirds are in charge of collecting dried fruits, healthy snacks and nuts! The class that collects the most gets a free dress day as well.
